Purpose: After learnig all about hurricanes, its important to think about being in a hurricane and how Mayors should lead cities in the event of a hurricane.

+First Task: You will work with the FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) website to determine safety strategies for people in hurricanes and what to pack in a hurricane saftey kit. Draw your own kit with at least 4 items in it that should be in a hurricane safety kit and write the reason for each.

+Second Task:
Now you will read an article about the Mayor of New Orleans and a sample of an action plan for hurricane safety. After reading the articles create a list of what a town leader needs to consider in helping potential hurricane victims and cleaning up the damage. You will then make a master list as a class and discuss these points. Feel free to use your own knowledge and brainstorms to create this list as well.
