Global Storms: Warm up Activity
Cyclone, Hurricane, and Typhoon
What is the difference between these stroms? Have you ever expereienced one?
Purpose:
To understand that a hurricane is a type of storm specific to a location and to learn about storms similar to a hurricane.
Task:
First, you will be asked to write a short story or reflection about any time that you were in a storm. What was it like? Was it scary? Who were you with? What happened? These reflections will then be posted on the Notre Dame Virtual School network for children all over the world to see that you expereince stroms just like them, even if they are different kind of storms.
Your teacher will then break you up into three groups- India, Japan, and the U.S. You will each do research on some websites about the type of storm that your location experiences then share the findings with your group. The groups will then be responsible for telling the rest of the class about their location and the storm it expereinces as well as information about the seasons and how they form.
